Basak Ozer Independent Board Member

A ser­i­al entre­pre­neur, Basak has been a found­ing mem­ber / ear­ly exec­u­tive of four dis­rup­tive start-ups which made exits with a com­bined val­ue of over $15B, led his­toric advance­ments in sus­tain­abil­i­ty, shared trans­porta­tion sys­tems, and reduc­ing reliance on fos­sil fuels. Her pas­sion for mak­ing mobil­i­ty acces­si­ble and equi­table, led her to dri­ve inno­va­tion through auton­o­my, elec­tri­fi­ca­tion, HD maps, IoT, sen­sors, and gen­er­a­tive AI.

Basak is the founder and CEO of Spi­ca, an advi­so­ry firm in Mobil­i­ty and Sus­tain­abil­i­ty, work­ing with start-ups, indus­try lead­ers, and invest­ment firms glob­al­ly in achiev­ing opti­mal prod­uct / mar­ket fit and cre­at­ing unique invest­ment opportunities.

Pre­vi­ous­ly, Basak was Chief Prod­uct and Design Leader at Motion­al, an autonomous car indus­try leader, orig­i­nal­ly found­ed out of MIT, fol­lowed with $4B invest­ments from Hyundai and Aptiv. Before Motion­al, Basak drove prod­uct / mar­ket fit, and R&D pri­or­i­ties at Tele Atlas, a Dutch HD Maps leader, the com­pa­ny that led the wide­spread con­sumer adop­tion of dig­i­tal maps and was acquired by Tom­Tom; Quat­tro Wire­less, lead­ing ad plat­form and data com­pa­ny acquired by Apple; and Here Maps, Berlin based HD Maps leader, acquired by BMW / Audi Auto­mo­tive Consortium. 

Basak start­ed her career at Hon­ey­well where she also ran a sen­sor busi­ness pow­er­ing crit­i­cal appli­ca­tions in home and build­ing sus­tain­abil­i­ty, auto­mo­tive, and aero­space con­trol systems.
